Join us to walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks or sign up to a Charity Skydive!
We're inviting our community, service users and businesses to support Mersey Cares to do more this May, by signing up to a one of our Mental Health Awareness Week challenges.
The theme this year is "Movement: Moving More for our Mental Health".
Making physical activity a priority is crucial for our mental well-being. However, all too often, many of us find it challenging to work enough exercise into our lives. The Mental Health Foundation's annual awareness week takes place between 13 - 19 May 2024 and seeks to recognise the diverse barriers to staying active and assisting people in discovering opportunities for movement within their daily lives.
For those of you who want to take your movement to the next level, why not challenge yourself to one of our exciting fundraising events in May - the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge or a Mersey Cares Skydive?
As well as being a huge amount of fun and great for your own physical and mental wellbeing, your support will enable us to bring to life new projects and developments across our specialist services in physical and mental health, learning disabilities and addictions services across Cheshire and Merseyside; helping our beloved NHS to go further.
Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge
This is a great event to take part of with a team of adventurers and will see you walk a distance of 24.5 miles taking in the breath taking scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The circular walk starts and finishes in Horton-in-Ribblesdale and will see you climb the three peaks of Pen-y-ghent (694m/2277ft), Whernside (736m / 2415ft), and Ingleborough (23m / 2372ft).
You'll receive expert guidance from specialist mountain leaders and trained professionals at Overlimits, ensuring you're fully supported throughout your journey. The crew will offer valuable insights on equipment, clothing, navigation, and routes. Additionally, you'll be included in a welcoming WhatsApp community, where you'll receive real-time updates and an invitation to a pre-briefing session via Zoom.

Mersey Cares Charity Skydive
You'll never forget the exhilarating sensation of freefalling! If skydiving is something you have always wanted to do, what better reason to do it than to raise money to support your community. Rest assured, all tandem jumps are conducted under the supervision of fully qualified skydiving instructors at Skyline, allowing you to simply enjoy the breath taking view.
Our Skydive will take place on Saturday 18 May 2024 to mark Mental Health Awareness Week and will help us to raise funds to support our teams across the Trust. All participants will have support from our charity fundraising team who will also supply fundraising packs and resources.

How Can Your Support Help?
Supporting Mersey Cares will enable us to do more good to serve the health needs of our communities and enhance the healthcare and wellbeing of service users, patients.
With support, we’ve already done some amazing things, such as provide gifts for children in care, fund ZSA suicide awareness training and deliver therapeutic sensory gardens for patients working towards recovery to go home. We’ve also been able to set up a monthly support group for Young Onset Dementia patients, host interactive and creative spaces for children and young people to write about their experiences after COVID, and provide support for foster carers and parents to understand teenage emotions.
