Help us to support more people with FREE suicide awareness training

With your help we can support more people to gain skills and confidence to talk to someone struggling with suicidal thoughts

Making suicide prevention something everyone can get involved in...

Sadly, more than 6,000 people in the UK die by suicide every year – and one in five people have had thoughts of suicide.

If someone you know was thinking about suicide, would you know what to say? Learning the skills to speak to someone who is experiencing suicidal thoughts could help to save their life.

By donating just £8 you could help us to fund 50 people to take potentially life-saving suicide awareness and prevention training, teaching them what to look out for and how to start a conversation with someone they are worried about.

We want to make suicide prevention something everyone can get involved in – and so together with the Zero Suicide Alliance (ZSA) we launched our campaign during Mental Health Awareness Week to support more people with FREE suicide awareness training.

We believe that one life lost to suicide is one too many, and in line with Mersey Care Foundation Trust are working towards a goal of zero suicide, based on the belief that suicide is preventable and amendable to intervention.

Everyone has a part to play and by working together, we can help prevent suicide.

What is the ZSA?

The ZSA is a national initiative funded by our charity which exists to empower, equip, and educate individuals and organisations to support suicide awareness and prevention through accessible, free online training and resources.

We want to ensure the ZSA can continue to exist and continue its ground-breaking work to support more people to learn the potentially lifesaving skills to talk to someone who is contemplating suicide. We want to support MORE people to take the training to further support our zero suicides ambition – and we can do this with your support.

Donating to our appeal will support us to:

  • Support more people in learning vital skills and confidence to talk to someone struggling with suicidal thoughts as well as develop new training and resources.

  • Research and develop accessible digital suicide prevention resources and tools

  • Challenge stigma and raise awareness of suicide and suicide prevention.

You can help to ensure the ZSA's training and resources can continue to reach more people by making a donation. Your support, big or small, helps to make a HUGE difference.

About ZSA’s Suicide Awareness training:

The ZSA’s online suicide awareness and prevention training teaches people how to spot suicide warnings, how to have a conversation with someone they are worried about and where to signpost for further support. It also teaches and reinforces that suicide is preventable.

So far, it has been taken by more than 2.6 million people, giving them the skills and confidence needed to talk to someone struggling with suicidal thoughts.

More than nine out 10 people (92%) who have taken the training said they feel more confident talking to someone about suicide, and 93% said they feel more confident that they’d be able to recognise signs in someone they care about.

In addition to the main training, the ZSA offers modules targeted at specific groups that research has shown to be more at risk of suicide including:
