VCFSE Micro-Commission funding available for improving carer support across Merseyside and Cheshire

12 January 2024

Are you a voluntary, community, faith or social enterprise organisation based in and around Liverpool, Knowsley, St Helens, Halton or Warrington, that would benefit from funds to improve carer support?

We’ve been awarded funding from NHS Charities Together for Mersey Care's Participation and Engagement Team to support the long-term health and recovery of NHS staff, patients, community and volunteers impacted by COVID-19.

As part of this delivery, the Trust is seeking to commission funding of £26,328 for VCFSE activity across an 18-month period (fixed-term), starting no later than April 2024.

What is the funding for?

The funding will boost the work that Mersey Care already undertakes with unpaid carers (via the Carer Support Pathway), with the objective of improving carer support and meaningful engagement with diverse and multi-ethnic communities.

Organisations applying for the VCFSE funding will need to demonstrate how they can build on current support, including developing meaningful and sustainable carer engagement within multi- ethnic communities as well as developing a sustainable pathway in which multi-ethnic carers are routinely identified and offered culturally appropriate and sensitive support.

VCFSE organisations will also be expected to develop and deliver co-produced training for Mersey Care staff to increase awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion within the context of an unpaid caring role.

The deadline for applying is 12 January, 2024

Claire Dutton, Strategic Carer Engagement Lead on the Participation and Engagement Team said:

“Mersey Care are excited to work together with the VCFSE sector to create a meaningful pathway of support for unpaid carers in diverse and multi-ethnic communities. This is an amazing opportunity to coproduce a great piece of work that will have a lasting positive impact in our local area.”
